You will be responsible for the death of many animals
By choosing not to go vegan, you will be responsible for the death of approximately 14,000 animals in your lifetime. Industries that raise cows, pigs and chickens for meat aren’t the only ones killing animals. The French egg industry exploits and kills more than 57 million susceptible hens each year, while the dairy industry is responsible for the deaths of millions of cows. It separates loving mothers from their babies shortly after birth. Animals are individuals who deserve to live happy and healthy lives.
You may die sooner
The average human life expectancy is 82 years in France, but by not going vegan, you reduce your chances of exceeding 72 years. If you are not vegan, on average you have a higher risk of dying prematurely, six to ten years earlier. Indeed diet is an important factor in the development of certain diseases and the vegan diet has health benefits, such as a lower risk of obesity, type 2 diabetes, certain cancers and heart disease. .

A study from the University of Oxford published in the journal Climate Change shows that meat eaters are responsible for 7.19 kg of carbon dioxide equivalent (kgCO2e) per day. In contrast, vegans are only responsible for 2.89 kgCO2e per day, which means that by choosing not to go vegan you produce nearly 2.5 times more greenhouse gas emissions. This equates to the carbon footprint of nearly 8,000 kilometres, or more than half a year of driving for the average Frenchman.
You waste a lot of water
A person who eats vegan saves about 4,100 liters of water per day and considerably reduces their ecological footprint. This means that in your lifetime you will use roughly 108,000,000 extra liters of water if you don’t go vegan – that’s the equivalent of 43 Olympic swimming pools.
You will destroy acres of land
The basic French scheme uses 10,800 m2 of land per year, while a vegan diet only uses about 1,300 m2 per year. In Europe, 63% of arable land is thus intended for livestock feed, whereas it could be rewilded or used to directly feed populations by producing fruit and vegetables, pulses or cereals. And this destruction of ecosystems for meat production subsequently leads to other problems such as soil erosion.
