Ten years after its opening, what is happening to the Gamaches retirement home?

Nursing assistant at the Les Trois Rives retirement home in Gamaches (Somme), Myriam has undergone touch-massage training. She is the only employee in the establishment to hold it. Also, in addition to her interventions in the palliative care unit, she is very much in demand by the residents (and by her colleagues on break times). Like Françoise, resident since October 2016: “It’s a pleasant moment. It is good for the body, but also for the mind. There is the massage, but we also discuss, we exchange, we take the time”. On January 5, 2012, the Residence Les Trois Rives opened its doors to Gamachesin the Sum. Ten years later, the retirement home continues its development with the priority objective of the well-being of the elderly. For this, several actions are implemented.

The ceremonies and visits organized for the anniversary of the structure, on September 15, 2022 with elected officials and professionals, then on September 17, 2022 with residents and their families, are an opportunity to take stock.

Sandra Durand is a facilitator at the Gamaches retirement home (Somme). And to entertain the elderly, she has no shortage of ideas... Proof of this is the souvenir photos of the actions of recent months: theme days, pet therapy at the equestrian center, welcoming schoolchildren... This week, for the World France Alzheimer's Day (September 21), the host even brings a farm to the park of the residence!

“Our challenge for 2022 is openness”

Lucile Benoit, current director of the establishment, focuses on inclusion.

Our challenge for 2022 is openness. Openness to the public, but also territorial anchoring, in order to change people’s view of life in the home. Residents are at home here.

Moreover, as soon as they arrive, they are invited to personalize their room. And there are also rooms reserved for the elderly to receive their loved ones. “There are very good things happening here,” concludes the director.

They said it on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Gamaches retirement home…

Guislaine Sire, departmental councilor of the Somme for the canton of Gamaches: “I knew the beginnings of the structure 10 years ago, and I see how much the residents are still so happy”

Patricia Poupart, substitute for Emmanuel Maquet, deputy, and regional councilor for Hauts-de-France: “Serving the interest and satisfying the public received. Beyond looking after health, the role of a retirement home is also to watch over the memory of the elders. In such structures, social life is important, through a group, a collective, and animations. It is essential to respect the individual until the end”

Jean-Paul Mongne, Mayor of Gamaches: “I also took part in the inauguration ten years ago. One can only note that it is a beautiful establishment. Regularly, we have contacts because we work together on different projects. Soon again, it will be on the occasion of Pink October »

Marc Forner, Korian Group’s Deputy Regional Director for the North Region: “When I think of the Korian Les Trois Rives residence, there are words that spontaneously come to mind. the first is commitment, warmth, benevolence, professionalism, listening, and then the quality of care. When we speak with the families, the same words come up”

Lucile Benoit, director of the Les Trois Rives residence in Gamaches: “During these 10 years, the establishment has remained in a dynamic of projects, a dynamic of movement, and it has always been able to adapt to changes and needs. It is the care and non-care teams who have written the history of this house. Because here, we are talking about a house, and not a retirement home. Residents are at home

A capacity of 80 beds

As a reminder, since its creation, the Gamaches retirement home has had an accommodation capacity of 80 beds. Currently, the establishment is almost full. The residents are spread over three levels. We find two sheltered living units for people with cognitive disorders first floor.

These TNMs can be of three types: cognitive (music therapy, gardening, singing, etc.), functional (grip workshop, walking, etc.), or behavioral (appeasement activities via the Montessori method, zootherapy, empathy dolls, etc.).
